Acceptable Items for Recycling

Here are the recyclable materials we can take care of for you:

  • Bottle-grade plastics #1 and #2 and #4 thru #7 (plastic lids go to the trash)
  • Office paper and gift-wrapping paper
  • Corrugated cardboard and paper bags
  • Aluminum and metal food cans (rinsed out)
  • Newspapers, magazines, brochures, and inserts
  • Paperboard boxes (such as those used for cereal, pasta, and tissue)
  • Phonebooks, greeting cards, regular mail, and junk mail
  • Glass bottles and jars (rinsed out)
  • Bulky, rigid plastics, such as buckets and chairs (must have the recycling symbol)

Items We Do Not Recycle

Please join us in the battle against contamination! We are experiencing high levels of contamination in our recycling. When non-recyclable items (TRASH) end up in your recycling container, they have the potential to turn the entire truck load into trash, which increases processing cost and results in additional charges. In addition, this is a waste of valuable resources as the remaining recyclables must be thrown away. Please do not bring the following items or put them in your recycling container:

  • Plastic bags of any kind (including garbage bags and shopping bags)
  • Waxed cardboard (like the kind used for orange juice or milk cartons)
  • Electronics
  • Batteries and cell phones
  • Clothes, shoes
  • Food
  • Styrofoam (like take-out boxes or packing foam)
  • Plastic toys
  • Broken window glass, Pyrex, mirrors, or ceramics
  • Windows or tempered glass
  • Wire hangers
  • Needles or syringes
  • Hazardous waste
  • Construction material or vinyl siding
  • Tanglers, hoses, cords, or tree lights
  • Plastics (industrial, auto parts, plastics, or manufactured molded plastics)
